Right: Complaints from residents about speeding have stopped on the routes fitted with the radar speed signs
Traffic Logix radar speed signs are being used by Washington, DC Department of Transportation to cut speeding on the South Dakota Avenue corridor.
The city has purchased six of the Traffic Logix radar signs, installing them on streets with the highest incidence of speeding by drivers.
“They’re easy to deploy, easy to use, and easy to maintain,” says Harvey Alexander, the IT systems manager at the Washington, DC DOT. They are also available with solar power and feature messages that can be tailored to change according to driver behavior.
Alexander says the signs have had a marked impact on speeding since they were first installed six months ago, with traffic speeds returning to the posted limit, and complaints from residents about speeding have stopped in these locations.
