Lawmakers seek reduced ticket for helmet wearers
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – A Utah House committee has unanimously approved a bill that would have Utah courts slice $8 off of traffic tickets for off-highway vehicle riders if they were wearing a helmet.
The bill approved by the panel on Friday now advances to the full House for consideration.
Motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, electric bicycles and scooters would all count under the proposal.
To benefit from the waiver the rider would have to be at least 18.
