Motorcyclists Revved Up Over Proposed Bill
Bikers Feel Targeted
AUGUSTA, Maine –State lawmakers are discussing a bill to crack down on excessive motorcycle noise.
Members of the group Maine Citizens Against Loud Motorcycles said they are fed up with what they call the acoustical assault of loud motorcycles, specifically those that have been modified.
But, bikers call the proposal unfair and discriminatory, saying they are being targeted for what just a few peopled are doing.
The House Transportation committee took up the bill yesterday and heard testimony from both sides.
The committee did not take any action.
They have a work session on the bill scheduled for Friday and will then likely decide whether to send it to the full legislature.
